While obviously bingo is our main hobby, Littlewoods Bingo loves nothing more than getting immersed in a good book especially on holiday. So whether you're a fully fledged romantic or you just love a good murder mystery, this online bingo site knows the best holiday reads currently on the UK shelves.
Bingo Book of Choice 1: The Woods by Harlan Coben
If you've never had the pleasure of picking up one of Harlan Coben's books then you really are missing out. Known as the King of the Page Turners, Coben has written 15 novels, each taking you through a rollercoaster of twists and turns that will shock you right until you finish the last word on the very last page. His latest paperback offering, The Woods, is no exception.
The Woods tells the story of Paul Copeland â“ Cope for short - whose sister went missing, presumed dead, 20 years ago. But when a homicide victim is found with evidence linking to Cope and that dreaded night, some well-buried, subtle details are threatening to come to light. With hope that his sister could still be alive, Cope has to decide whether the truth is actually better left hidden.
Bingo Tip: If you like Harlan Coben, try Richard Montanari's Rosary Girls.
Bingo Book of Choice 2: The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith
More over Miss Marple, Jessica "Murder She Wrote" Fletcher, Cagney and Lacey, Precious Ramotswe, Botswana's only â“ and finest â“ female private detective has arrived. Whether it's a philandering partner, a missing husband or defiant offspring, Precious finds the answers. This, the first in the series, sees Precious set out on the trail of a missing child, encountering a bed of strange situations and more than a little danger alone the way. Perfect for those of you who like their detectives filled with warm and wit.
Bingo Book of Choice 3: Thanks for the Memories by Cecelia Ahern
Hands up if you cried like a baby at the romantic comedy PS I Love You? Well the woman responsible for those beautiful words and heartbreaking â“ and heart warming - tale is back with her new novel Thanks for the Memories. And we're predicting more of the same emotive story here too especially as the opening theme is How can you know someone you've never even met?
Joyce Conway has an incredible memory â“ she intimately knows the cobbled streets of Paris and every night dreams about a blonde girl. The thing is she has never been to France and has never met this little girl. And everywhere she turns, she just can't escape this feeling of déjà vu. And then there's divorcee Justin Hitchcock who, whilst giving a lecture on art in Dublin, was persuaded to donate blood â“ the first thing that's come out of his heart for a long time. Then one rainy evening, Joyce and Justin cross paths in the strangest of circumstances. They have no idea that their fates are more entangled than they could ever have imagined.
Bingo Tip: Like Cecelia, then check out another heartfelt author Dorothy Koomson.
Bingo Book of Choice 4: The Face of Death by Cody McFadyen
If you like the Harlan Coben types, then you'll be more than satisfied by Cody McFadyen's ability to create bad guys and good, if not slightly fragmented, cops.
The Face of Death continues the story of Special Agent Smoky Barrett (it is a very good idea to read McFadyen's previous novel Shadow Man to really get to grips with this extraordinary heroine). After going through nightmare after nightmare, Smoky is faced with the decision to leave the force. But when a young woman loses her family, friends and just about everyone who has ever shown her an ounce of kindness demands only to speak to Smoky, it seems like Smoky has one more serial killer to track down.
Bingo tip: If you like Cody McFadyen, you should try Tess Gerritsen. Her book "The Surgeon" is superb.
Bingo Book of Choice 5: The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
Now, we're sure we're not alone in fancying a bit of Doctor Who actor David Tennent! Well now Audrey Niffenegger has (kind of) written a book on what it would be like being married to such a man as the Doctor. Ooh as if we couldn't imagineâ¦
This beautiful story tells the tale of Henry and Claire who first met when Claire was 6 and Henry 36. 14 years later, when Claire was 20, the pair married â“ but Henry was only 28. Intriguing and possible only as Henry is one of the first people to be diagnosed with chrono-displacement-disorder, a condition that allows him to travel through time.
