Addicted to Fame

April is here and that means that just round the corner is the next wave of reality TV shows. Like our online bingo promotions, their arrival seems to be coming thicker and faster as every year passes.

From nobodies looking for their first taste of the limelight via the Big Brother house to out of work celebrities who, despite the age old claims for personal enlightenment, enter the jungle with one intention - to revive their careers. Yes, fame is something everyone and their dog fancies a taste of and many will do just about anything to get even a sniff of it.

Just look at the likes of Kerry Katona. There doesn't seem to be a month that goes by where Kerry doesn't feature in the tabloids. Over the past few years, the once Atomic Kitten star â“ now found in an Iceland near you â“ has stopped at nothing to get that constant taste of fame including continuously publicising details of her private life.

She's opening discussed her cocaine addiction and varies stints in rehab, detailed her once painful search for Mr. Right as well as her public slagging matches with ex-husband Brian McFadden. We've seen her experiment with diets and exercise regimes; we know where she claims to shop. She's even gone as far as to describe witnessing her mother's attempted suicide as a mere toddler. In fact the one thing we don't know is which UK online bingo site she plays on! Although, if she's got any sense, it'll be Littlewoods Bingo without doubt!

And now she's in the middle of her brand new TV programme â“ Crazy in Love â“ a documentary on the daily lives of her, her children and her husband Mark Croft.

In the advert for the show, Kerry says, "I just want people to forget about what they read and just see me as Kerry who won the jungle because that's still me" and perhaps it is that reason alone why fame can have such an overwhelming effect on people. And why they keep coming back for more.

The great Andy Warhol once described fame as one of the biggest addictive drugs there is. And here we thought it was chocolate and online bingo! The thing about fame is [Psychology behind fame hunting]

However not all fame wannabes need be as desperate as Kerry or as tragic as Britney; getting your 15 minutes could just be about having some fun. That was certainly the case with some of our online bingo chat masters.

Bingo Chat Master Cleo's claim to fame: Every year our local runs a karaoke competition; I guess it's their equivalent to X Factor! Now I know what you're all thinking but I didn't win â“ my bingo buddies can assure you of that. I am in fact tone deaf but that didn't stop me entering. I was so bad and now I'm known as the Amy Winehouse of the Wheatsheaf â“ however I think there's a touch of irony to that nickname!

Bingo Chat Master Rosie's claim to fame: My mum once entered me into our local town's talent show. I used to do a load of ballet when I was kid and so did a little recital for all the locals! Low and behold I won and was featured in our local newspaper, tutu and all!

Bingo Chat Master Malcolm's claim to fame: I auditioned for the second series of Pop Idol - the one that Michelle McManus won. I sang George Michael's Careless Whisper although I'm not sure it's much of a claim to fame considering my audition was never aired on the show and I didn't make it past round one! Still I got to meet Simon Cowell!

Bingo Chat Master Laura's claim to fame: My claim to fame is simple. I'm a chat master on the best UK online bingo site. What more could you want!

If you've got any of your own claims to fame, we'd love to hear about it. Email your stories to info@littlewoodsbingo.com.
