The Littlewoods Bingo Online Debate:
Delia Smith – Modern Day Connoisseur or Kitchen Queen Turned Lazy

There never seems to be enough time in the day to get all of life’s little jobs done does there; our jobs, our home lives and not to mention making ample time to play a good old game of online bingo. So any attempts to cut a few corners, be it from an all in one washer dryer to some easy iron fabric conditioner, this online bingo site is on board!

And this is reckoning behind Delia Smith’s, the apparent Queen of the Kitchen, the new book, How to Cheat at Cooking. The book, which critics are predicting could be the most successful cookery book ever published, aims to teach people how to cook quick, healthy dishes using ready-made ingredients from supermarkets.

While for some cooking is a passion - something that they don’t mind dedicating time and energy; for others it is nothing more than a chore, particularly when it involves feeding a household. The complicated, time-consuming recipes promoted on television by other infamous celebrity chefs are fine for the odd dinner party or special occasion but unrealistic in real life. What Delia’s new book does is target people who did not want to eat junk food but do not have nor want to spend all their time prepping, cooking and serving impressive meals.

So in this day and age, what with all the constant warnings about our salt, fat and sugar intake not to mention the undisputed facts and stats about our countries increased obesity levels; Delia’s new take in the kitchen seems to be the best thing since online bingo (and sliced bread!). And some of the recipes are pretty tasty.

Her Seafood Linguine for example. Simply combine some pre-crushed garlic with some fresh rosemary, a slug of vermouth, a jar of Italian tomato sauce and a packet of frozen seafood. Meanwhile take ten minutes to boil a pan of water and cook the linguine, then voila, seafood linguine. And what’s even more impressive is you don’t have to be tied to the oven to cook it. You could even join a quick bingo game while the linguine bubbles away!

However despite a recipe that gives us the time to play online bingo whilst cooking, on closer inspection, we can’t help but question the credentials of Ms Smith. Considering these recipes include the use of frozen mashed potato and tinned mince lamb, it seems that once again if something seems too good to be true, it undoubtedly is too good to be true (with the obvious exception of our online bingo game)!

Yes, everyone seems familiar with Delia’s open use of tinned mince and frozen mash to make an even easier version of the good old family favourite Shepard’s Pie. We mean how difficult and time consuming is it to make mash? And not to mention the fact that that bag of frozen seafood contains 40% of our daily salt intake; things aren’t looking quite so healthy.

Delia's offerings are certainly better than the vast array of ready meals on offer at your local supermarket. However, she's not the only one with a few tricks up her sleeves. Keep your eyes, ears and taste buds peeled for Teabreak's quick and easy family recipes coming soon. Rely on your number one online bingo site to come up with the goods!
