It's that time of year again. No, not time to lock out the bitter cold and play online bingo all day, as appealing as that sounds. It's time to concentrate on everything we need to change about ourselves!
So come on hands up if in 2008 you are resolved to get out of your bingo-playing chair and join the gym (or start using the membership you registered back in January 2007!). If not that one then you're going to stop smoking, stop having that mid week glass of wine whilst playing bingo online and start eating only healthy food?
I'll bet every one of you has made at least one of these resolutions. January sees around an increase of 20% in gym memberships with everyone using the New Year as the pivotal point for their new health regime. However, less than half manage to maintain it. Our bingo games are just too tempting!
It's the same with drinking and smoking and fast food. As soon as you tell yourself you must or mustn't do something, you crave it all the more. (Oh hang on, if that's the case maybe you should make the resolution â“ I will not play online bingo with Littlewoods! Nah, where's the sense in missing out on the bingo fun?)
But here at Littlewoods Bingo, we're resolved to make better New Year's Resolutions. Let's make them as fun as our bingo games, as exciting as a bingo jackpot and based on something that we actually want to do.
Last year my fella's resolutions were to, have guitar lessons, complete a half marathon and learn how to ride a motorbike â“ how cool is that? Because as strong as our good intentions are, come February and we're flaking!
Why not pick a place to visit? Playing Littlewoods Bingo isn't all you can do online (although it is the only place to play top bingo!). There are tons of cheap flight and holiday companies aiming to make the world as small as possible. Try Responsible Travel for all your safe holiday needs.
Combine this resolution with the 'traditional' giving up the fags. Every time you'd go and buy a pack of 20, stick the money in your 2008 travel fund instead. That way you really will see the results of quitting while living a jet set lifestyle. Life is for the living after all.
Yes, it certainly is so why not broaden your horizons and take up a new hobby. Perhaps like all of us at Littlewoods Bingo, Strictly Come Dancing has tickled a dancing fancy. It's one of the only programmes that'll make us step away from our bingo game! Or maybe you want to spice up your culinary skills.
Dance lessons are a fantastic way to shed those unwanted Christmas pounds â“ just look at how fit and toned the celebs get on that show â“ without having to hit the treadmill. Or there are quick and easy health cooking classes out there, perfect if you want to take the takeaway off speed dial without any hassle.
There are so many adult-learning courses out there. Alongside our bingo chat rooms, they're a really good way to meet some new people. Or why not get your bingo game buddies together and try out a class together.
Another popular traditional resolution is spending more time with friends and family inside and out of our online bingo hall. Sounds like an easy one to keep but life has a horrible tendency of take over.
Start early and set aside a date every week, fortnight or month to see certain friends and family members. It may sound regimented but anything more relaxed and people will either forget or overlook it. And don't pencil it in, commit to it and write in down in ink, permanent marker if necessary!
But if plans don't come off one week, if someone can't leave the house, why not arrange to meet in our bingo chat room where you can catch up on all their gossip and visa versa.
And also make a pact with yourself that at least once a month you will take a me day where you get to do anything you want. A nice hot soak in the tub with your Christmas bubble bath and a good book or perhaps it's simply enjoying a game of Bingo in the peace and quiet. Whatever it is, stick to it. We guarantee you'll enjoy it more than you typical resolutions. Come join the Littlewoods Bingo New Year Revolution!
