Bingo Beauty: Top Tips for Glowing Summer Skin

Now that summer is definitely here people everywhere are baring their skin in strappy tops and skirts and little summer dresses, but if your skin’s been covered up for months then follow these top tips to get glowing summer skin.

Exfoliate!

It’s a tip that’s so often heard but very rarely followed. You shed more dead skin cells than you probably care to think about and if you don’t get rid of them they just sit there on top of your skin, giving you a dull complexion. Grab yourself an exfoliating scrub and hop in the shower and scrub away all those dead skin cells (in gentle circular motions) to reveal glowing, dewy skin underneath. To keep skin glowing try to exfoliate one or two times a week.

Hydrate!

We all know that moisturising is a key beauty tip to stop your skin drying out, especially in the warm weather. For summer though you can ditch the rich body butters and opt for something a bit lighter, and go with a tropical scent like mango for a summer feel. Don’t forget to grab a facial moisturiser as well because a flaky face doesn’t look good on anyone!

Get that Summer Glow.

We all know that too much time in the sun or under a sunbed is very bad for your skin and can be dangerous too. If you want to get a natural glow for your pasty pale skin then fake it. There are a ridiculous number of different self-tan options which gradually build up colour over time – you can alternate with your normal moisturiser to build up your glow over time.

Fresh Feet

With summer comes sandals and flip flops and the last thing you want is dry, ugly feet on show. If you don’t have the money for a pedicure at a beauty salon you can treat your feet at home. Invest in a foot file and foot scrub and give your feet a good scrub a couple of times a week to keep on top of any flaky bits. If your feet are taking a beating in strappy summer footwear then try a peppermint moisturiser to cool and refresh at the end of the day. Top off with a pretty new nail polish colour so your feet can feel summery too!

It’s all about the Sunscreen

When the sun is out you need to be wearing sunscreen. If you’ve ever seen programmes like 10 Years Younger you will have seen the unseen damage that the sun can do to people’s skin so unless you want prematurely aged, dried out skin, make sure you slap on some sunscreen. Buy a new bottle this summer – sunscreen isn’t meant to last forever to its no use relying on the bottle that’s been sat in your cupboard for the past two years. Sunscreens that protect against UVA and UVB rays should be top of your list and if you’re prone to burning go with a higher factor. Make sure to reapply every few hours if you are out in the sun, otherwise you’ll end up with pink bits.
