In these frugal times, with the credit crunch taking up all of our extra pennies on essentials, we don’t always have time to indulge in expensive hair masks and conditioning treatments.
Luckily here at Littlewoods Bingo we’ve found some of the best hair masks that you can make at home to bring back some much needed shine and condition and get your locks back in shape for the summer.
Banana Avocado Hair Mask
Remember this isn’t for eating, it’s for your hair so don’t worry about the odd food combination. The banana adds moisture while the avocado smoothes out frizz, honey and olive oil add shine and the egg works like conditioner to leave your locks in tip top condition; full of shine and beautifully conditioned.
Ingredients
1 medium banana
1 egg
1/2 avocado
2 Tbsp honey
3 Tbsp buttermilk
3 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Directions
1. Mash the banana, egg and avocado in a small bowl until well mixed.
2. Add in remaining ingredients and stir until well combined.
3. Apply to hair from roots to tips.
4. Leave in for 30 minutes and then wash out with a gentle moisturising shampoo.
5. Double the recipe for long hair.
6.Use twice a month to maintain healthy hair.
Yogurt Hair Mask
For those of you with dry and very frizzy hair, try this recipe to fight the frizz and restore balance and shine
Ingredients
1 egg white
1/4 cup plain organic yogurt
1/4 cup mayonnaise
Directions
1. l egg white until frothy.
2. Mix egg with yogurt and mayonnaise.
3. Massage into wet hair.
4. Keep hair covered with plastic shower cap or cling film.
5. Leave in for 30 minutes then wash it out with a mild shampoo.
6. Rinse hair with cold water.
7. Use monthly to moisturise hair.
Lemon Yogurt Hair Mask (for oily hair)
If you have oily hair and want to keep get rid of excess oil but still keep the shine in your luscious locks then try this homemade mask that will soak up that pesky excess oil and leave your hair silky soft. The baking soda and lemon juice absorb the oil while the yogurt moisturises without adding more oil.
Ingredients
5 Tbsp of plain yogurt
1 Tbsp of baking soda
1 Tbsp of fresh lemon juice
Directions
1. Mix the yogurt, baking soda and lemon juice in a bowl
2. Apply mask to hair, concentrating on the root area
3. Leave mask on hair for 40 minutes
4. Rinse with cool water
5. Use once a week to control greasy hair
