Bingo Days Out

Top Music Festivals

We love a good choon here at Littlewoods Bingo. Many a member of staff has been ribbed for their singing ability (or lack of it). There’s no better feeling than sticking on a bit of Westlife, belting out ‘Flying without Wings’ and scooping a nice big bingo cash prize.

With that in mind, we’ve pulled together a selection of the best UK music festivals taking place over the next few months, so if the music is in your blood, book your tickets early and get your best rock poses ready!

Hard Rock Calling

Back for its third year, the Hard Rock Calling festival takes place in Hyde Park on 28-29 June with easily its best line-up ever.

The Police (recently reformed) and guitar legend Eric Clapton are headlining, which is an amazing draw in itself. Add to that quality support acts including Sheryl Crow, Scottish songstress KT Tunstall and Starsailor, and you’ve got the perfect mix of guitar-driven music.

You probably won’t get many other opportunities to see Sting and Co. in action, so make the most of this rare festival appearance and log on to the Hard Rock Calling website for more information.

Glastonbury

The daddy of all music festivals, Glastonbury is still going strong after 27 years. As is the norm, the line-up for Glastonbury is a closely guarded secret, but acts confirmed so far include, Kings of Leon, Kate Nash, Amy Winehouse, Duffy and Neil Diamond.

People who have been to this world famous festival will tell you that it’s not just about the music, it’s about the whole community surrounding Glastonbury. With so much to do and see you’d be forgiven for not visiting the stages at all. That would be a shame though, as this year features some really big crowd pleasers! We’re big fans of ‘the Winehouse’ here at Littlewoods Bingo, so we hope she’s put all her recent troubles behind her and is ready to belt out a brilliant set.

More info is available on the Glastonbury site, but you’ll have to be quick!

Download

Get your leathers and old Motorhead t-shirts out – Download is a festival of pure rock. Lemmy and co will be there blasting out ‘Ace of Spades’, whilst 70s rockers KISS (yes they are still going, and yes, they do still wear the makeup!) are headlining.

Castle Donnington is the venue, which is handy as it is slap bang in the middle of the country just off the M1 motorway. Whatever your flavour of rock, from good old sing-song rock and roll (the aforementioned KISS ), through to punk (top American band The Offspring) or popular pin-up emo (Fall Out Boy), Download really does cater for every taste.

All you bingo buddies throwing air guitar shapes after a successful game of bingo should log on to the Download site for more information.

Live at Loch Lomond

Scotland is fast gaining a reputation as the place to stage a summer music festivals. Following the massive success of T in the Park, Live at Loch Lomond brings together rock, dance and indie bands.

Held in Balloch Castle Country Park on 2nd and 3rd of August, the festival this year plays host to chilled out tunes from Groove Armada, crazy dancer Bez and his Happy Mondays gang, as well as the original punk rockers, the Sex Pistols. Yes, they might be as old as your dad these days, but lead singer Jonny Rotten is still fond of airing a few choice words against Labour, the Conservatives, in fact, anyone who annoys him. Perhaps a few games of bingo would sort him out!

For more information on tickets, visit the Live at Loch Lomond website.

Creamfields

It started out as a pure dance festival popular with fans of the Ministry of Sound and Ibiza, but now respected music weekender Creamfields incorporates hundreds of DJs and bands, so whatever mood you are in, there’s sure to be something that caters to your musical taste.

Set out over 2 days (23rd and 24th August) in Cheshire, the king of DJs Fatboy Slim will be playing one of his renowned mammoth sets; including all his hits and a few surprises to keep you dancing. Also taking to the various stages will be Kasabian, former Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown and dance veterans Underworld.

A diverse mix of music, so log on to the Creamfields site for more information.
