West End Shows

Ahh, the West End - a classic day (or should that be night) out if ever we saw one! So much variety, the lights, the razzamatazz - it's hard not to fall in love with this great form of entertainment. There's nothing quite like taking in a West End Show, so Littlewoods Bingo has handpicked some of the best shows currently doing the rounds - including new productions and some classics our more 'refined' bingo buddies may remember! On with the show...

Chicago

Catherine Zeta-Jones may only be in the Hollywood version, but the stage production of Chicago has been running for 10 sensational years. Originally a Broadway hit in the 1970s, Chicago the Musical lays claim to be the longest running revival production in West End history. For our bingo players who aren't too familiar, the plot follows nightclub dancer, Roxie Hart, who murders her fella and winds up in Cook County Jail.

It's here she meets Velma Kelly and smooth-talking lawyer Billy Flynn as they battle to avoid Death Row. You're bound to have heard some of the sassy score - which includes 'All That Jazz', 'Roxie', and 'Razzle Dazzle'. Definitely one to pester the hubby to take you to see!

Dirty Dancing

The perfect girly show! Show me someone who doesn't swoon for Patrick Swayze in the hit 80s film and I'll eat my bingo dabber! The great news is that the romance, tension and raunchy dancing from the blockbuster movie is recreated live on stage.

You'll really feel part of the swingin' 60s as the cast lead you through all the songs you know and love from the soundtrack (it's the best selling movie soundtrack of all time don't ya know!), including Time Of My Life, Hungry Eyes, Hey Baby and Do You Love Me?

Mama Mia

One of the most popular shows around, around 10 million people have already been to see Mama Mia! You don't want to be left out do you bingo buddies? Thought not! How can you resist a good sing-a-long to the music of Abba!

The story follows a mother, Donna, her daughter and three men who could all be the father. Following their return to a Greek Island they've not visited for 21 years, Sam Carmichael Harry Bright and Bill Austin arrive just as 20-year old Sophie is about to get hitched. Cue much laughter, music and a real feel-good ending as relationships form between the characters and secrets of the past are revealed!

Lord of the Rings

Get your swords and Gollum masks ready...If you think it would be difficult to top the massive, Oscar-winning films as a fantasy tour de force then prepare to be amazed. We didn't think it could be done either, but with a cast of over 70 actors, singers and musicians, amazing sets and special effects you really will feel like you've landed in Middle-Earth.

All your favourite characters return as our band of heroes try to destroy the One Ring and the Dark Lord Sauron. Like us, you'll probably be amazed at the feet of the Hobbit characters, including Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee...are they the actors' real feet or not?

Gone with the Wind

The classic 1939 film made box office history when it was released, the novel it was based on won its author Margaret Mitchell the Pulitzer Prize and now the West End is home to this classic American tale. Follow seventeen-year-old Scarlett O'Hara as she journeys through war, peace and the end of slavery. It's a timeless tale of romance, tragedy and relationships.

A real emotional, tear-jerker of a story that has stood the test of time, Gone with the Wind is the perfect stage show for those looking to get caught up in the atmosphere of a by-gone era.
