8 is for... Garden Gate
Here at Littlewoods bingo we’re giving you the lowdown on all things bingo and this week we’re taking a look at the meaning behind bingo number eight, which has the bingo call of ‘garden gate’
As you bingo fans will be aware many of the calls at bingo are literally because they rhyme with the number, which is definitely the case here with ‘garden gate’ rhyming with the number eight!
The bingo call for number eight has also had some celebrity related calls in its time with one of the most popular being ‘Gareth Gates’. Some of you might well remember him from the Pop Idol days, he was a rather lovely fella who was the runner up in the first series of the show and was as famous for his stutter as he was for his singing.
Luckily Gareth managed to overcome his speech impediment and since his pop career began to go downhill he has been spotted on the stage playing Prince Charming in the pantomime Cinderella at the New Wimbledon Theatre, followed by a stint at London’s Adelphi Theatre playing Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and more recently has been playing Marius in the long running show Les Misérables.
The other call that has been related with the number eight has been ‘Sexy Kate’ and as bingo is such a British phenomenon we suspect his may well be related to a certain supermodel, Kate Moss, who would certainly fit the ‘Sexy Kate’ bill.
