Another week here at Littlewoods Bingo has been spent unravelling the mysteries and legends behind the fantastic and sometimes strange bingo lingo for numbers. This week we’re looking at number two, otherwise known as One Little Duck or Me and You.
This week’s is a little more simple and is purely based upon the shape of the number- people find inspiration for bingo lingo from allsorts and this one is easy to spot!
The number 2 is called One Little Duck due to its shape, which if you look carefully is actually shaped like a swan swimming on the water... and where you have swans you will always find ducks! Perhaps not the most logical connection, but One Little Duck sounds much better than One Little Swan!
When the number two is called you will often hear bingo players respond with a ‘quack quack’ noise, which you definitely couldn’t do if the number had been nicknamed One Little Swan.
Number two is the solo duck version, as if you were to call the bingo number twenty-two the bingo lingo will change to Two Little Ducks.
While One Little Duck is the most commonly used nickname for the number two, Me and You is an alternative bingo call. It’s a romantic rhyme for the number two and the explanation behind this is as simple as One Little Duck, it’s simply because it rhymes!
